This week on EOT: In the wake of the Paris attacks, fear and concern over Syrian and Iraqi refugees has grown. Thirty governors, including Pat McCrory, called for President Obama to stop sending Syrians to their states, saying they don’t know enough about the vetting process for refugees. Mirtha Donastorg spoke to one woman who was vetted herself and brings us her story. Saif Hassan has the News Beyond the Headlines where he gives us an update on the Paris terrorist attacks as well as an interesting outcome of winning in Zimbabwe’s Annual Mr. Ugly contest. This week, Nick Weaver brings you the Modest Mouth Review; he reviews the album “Atlas” by Real Estate. And Jake Winters brings you Snowverated; this week he reviews the 1987 film “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” starring Steve Martin . In the Poetry Corner, Nikita Chandalupani brings us the second of a two-part series with author, translator and poet, John Balaban. He reads two poems centering on the themes of family and connection. Along in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we visited the Haw River Ranch in Garner and Mirtha Donastorg tells us about what farm to table really means for your Thanksgiving turkey.
